Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year starts on the 23rd January this year and it's the year of the Dragon.

Here is a very quick card from a batch that I was commissioned to make this year.  As Stampin' Up! don't have a dragon stamp in their catalogue I had to resort to an image from the web, which I printed out on Whisper White card and then cut out using the Top Note die and my big shot machine.  I absolutely love this die and have found so many uses for it, in particular it works well as a panel for an image and the perforated edge can be cut off to create a border, which you will see in the variations of this card below.

For the background I have cut a piece of Real Red card at 14.5 x 10 (just slightly smaller than the A6 Whisper White card base) and run it through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

Finally to finish I've die cut the numbers using my timeless junior alphabet dies from gold mirror card (not Stampin' Up!) and fixed these to the card.

There are a few variations which use the mirror card as a border around the image and also I've added some Chinese symbol stickers which are from Malaysia (but you can probably pick them up in China Town or on the web somewhere).
