Contempo hot air balloon

This is the first chance I've had to sit down for 5 minutes all weekend... my own fault for trying to cram so much in of course!

After a lovely day of crafting yesterday, followed by some walking and dinner with a friend, today was more of the latter and now I'm exhausted. 

So here is a quick card which is appropriate for this time of year and the still reasonable weather we have been having.

Do you remember the fabulous Christmas themed stamp set Contempo Christmas... well, sadly it's also retiring this month from the main catalogue, which is a great shame as it can also be used for non-Christmas themed cards.

 

Here's one of the cards we made at my class yesterday, using the lovely Brights collection Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise colour theme.

 

The base is Tempting Turquoise and I have cut a piece of Melon Mambo card stock which has then been run through the Stripes embossing folder for the background.  The image is of course the 'Christmas bauble' stamped upside down in Tempting Turquoise ink to march and the little basket was created with the 'flower pot' part of the Christmas tree stamp and then cut out and raised up with dimensional sticky pads.

To finish the 'strings' of the hot air balloon have been drawn in with a Sahara Sand Stampin' Write marker pen and the sentiment is from the Easy Events stamp set, punched out with the Word Window punch.

Another Contempo Christmas card idea

As it's the weekend, I will be busy with classes and team training... so will be sharing some more ideas with you from these in the upcoming week.  For today, another idea for a card which uses the Christmas Kit that you can still order from me (see here). 

This Christmas card is quick and easy and uses the Contempo Christmas stampset.  I have stamped the image in Old Olive and Real Red onto a piece of Whisper White card measuring 5 x 7cm and then mounted this onto a piece of Real Red card 5.5 x 7.5cm.  I have then used a 1cm strip of Real Read card to create the ribbon effect and then stamped the sentiment with Old Olive ink.  Like I say... a lovely easy card when you know how.

I have stamped the bauble in both the Real Red and Old Olive ink onto Whisper White card and cut up.  The green piece at the top of the card has been punched with the Eyelet punch and then decorated with basic rhinestones.  The baubles have been fixed with dimensional sticky pads and then the card was finished off with basic rhinestones and the Christmas is love .... sentiment stamped in Old Olive ink.

Christmas card kit idea

Here is a card idea that you can make with the Christmas card kit that I have put together... see my Offers page.

• Cut a piece of Whisper White 10 x 20 and fold in half to create the card base.
• Cut a piece of Real Red 9.5cm x 9.5cm and stick to the card base. 
• For the panel you will need a piece of Whisper White cut to 6 x 6cm and a piece of Old Olive cut to 6.5 x 6.5cm.
• Note that I have used the Boho Blossoms punch on the corners of each of the Red and White panels.
• Stamp the bauble image 3 times onto a piece of Whisper White card and cut each image out.  To create the 3D bauble you need to fold each image into half vertically.  Then take the first folded image and put glue on one half.  Then stick the second folded image onto this piece so that the edges line up.  Repeat the glue on the second piece as before and stick the last folded image onto this.
• When you let go the bauble shape should unfold so that you have 3 sides showing and the back will be blank.  Glue the back and stick the bauble to the Whisper White square that you cut above.
• Mount the completed panel onto the card then stamp the sentiment underneath.  I have used part of the Merry Christmas sentiment – just the word ‘Christmas’.

Make and take with new colours

It was lovely to see some new faces at my new catalogue party last night.  Thank you to those of you who came along... the make and take project seemed to be well received, particularly as it's a great way to make use of the Contempo Christmas stamp set which is included in my Christmas Kit Offer that I am running until 21st October.

The card base is Whisper White cut to 10 x 20cm and folded in half.  I have then cut a piece of the Pool Party cardstock to 9.5 x 9.5cm and punched the corners with the Boho Blossoms punch and then mounted it to the base.

The image from the Contempo Christmas stamp set has been stamped in Island Indigo ink and cut out and then stuck upside down with a dimensional to a piece of Whisper White card measuring 7 x 5 cm and then mounted on a 7.5 x 5.5cm piece of Island Indigo card.  I stamped the Christmas tree pot in Chocolate Chip ink to create the basket and drew a few lines from the balloon down towards the basket and then fixed it with a dimensional.

I also prepared a sample with a 3D version of the balloon using 3 bauble images which everyone challenged themselves to and gave a go, so the simple 1 layer idea as shown in the photo became redundant... I was so pleased that everyone wanted to take up the challenge and do the slightly more complex idea :).

Christmas card club session

Last night was the first of my Christmas card club sessions.  We made two cards, one of which was featured in my earlier post and is made using some of my Christmas Card Kit offer contents.

Having cut up the Real Red card into A5 pieces, these were folded to create A6 sized card bases.

The christmas tree image was then stamped 3 times in Old Olive ink onto a piece of Whisper White (9 x 5.8cm), using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up, and then stamped twice more onto some scrap card, along with just the pot in Real Red ink. 

The 2 trees and pot were then cut out and mounted onto the main image with dimensionals.  The middle tree has had some basic rhinestones added to give it a bit of bling.  The panel has then been mounted onto a piece of Old Olive card (9.5 x 6.3cm) before being stuck to the base.  Then I have used just the 'Christmas is' part of the sentiment, but the ladies varied theirs ...
