A few favours

If you have been following my blog you will know that I was responsible for making the wedding favours for my friends wedding in Mallorca.  You can see the previous designs here.  

The final design chosen was the plain butterflies with the Champagne Glitter paper and I also made some standing place cards for the children using the Scallop Circle die - you can just see them to the right of the photo.

It was a lovely wedding and I can safely say, thankfully it went without any problems, despite me being in charge of the table plan, wedding favours and hair ;).

I forgot to take a picture of the hair in all it's glory, but managed to grab a couple of photos towards the end of the afternoon after the curls had dropped a little - I'm still proud of it though!

Easter chicks

I wasn't expecting to be back in the UK for Easter, and I don't really celebrate as such... but where there's chocolate to be had!

I'm still a little restricted with my stash as I haven't extracted everything out of storage yet but I do have my trusty owl punch with me, and surprisingly I managed to create something with an Easter theme using it.  

I had to add some feathers (with embroidery threads!) as these little chicks looked too much like yellow owls on my first attempt... I think maybe some wings might have helped?

Sweet Valentine

Today I have a Valentines card to share with you.  This could also work for an anniversary or engagement or anything really ;).  I've used Raspberry Ripple (my new favourite!) and Basic Black, which I have teamed with some hand made papers that I brought back from a visit to Sri Lanka...

I've stamped the 'humming bird' stamp from the Bloomin' Marvelous Sale-A-Bration stamp set to create this card, and created a mirror image using my Stamp-a-ma-jig... although I have to admit that I needed a blender pen for this idea as the image didn't work so well on the textured paper.

Happy Christmas Sis

This is the second year in a row that my sister will be celebrating Christmas with my parents and the second year that I will not be there... in fact I can't remember the last time I did celebrate Christmas with her - when we were kids I think?!  

So, I'm missing out on her Christmas roast, but also the cold weather as I am off on my travels until January. In the meantime, here is the card I made for her.  Happy Christmas Lee x

This is another twist on one of the cards I made last Christmas, but with a variation or two.  The Scallop Circle die works so well as an easle style card base, I must remember to use this idea more often, especially as the bird punch can be used to create other birds for year round cards :).

Christmas bag

Finally I have managed to sort out issues with blogger and can now add photos via another route, so scheduled posts are back... that is of course subject to actually creating something to post :).

Today I have a quick Christmas bag that co-ordinates with this card.

I have adhered a strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock, embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing  folder, to strips of Old Olive before attaching it to the sides of a pre cut gift bag.

The little tag was created with one of the Labels Collection Framelits dies cut from Old Olive card stock and then a selection of punches were used to create the Santa from scraps of Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler card stock.

Finally I have used some of the Real Red taffeta ribbon to attach the gift tag to the bag.

Comfort Cafe butterfly thanks

Today I have a card created with the lovely Comfort Cafe fabric, as I really love these colours.

 



The base is Whisper White and I've teamed Summer Star Fruit (new in colours) with Pool Party.  If you look closely you will see that I've embossed the Scallop Circle die cut with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder and then layered this over a panel of Summer Start Fruit card stock which has strips of Pool Party cut with one of the Finishing Touches Edgelits dies. 

 

The butterfly has been cut with the Beautiful Butterflies die after mounting the fabric onto card.

Christmas isn't Christmas without trees

Even as someone who doesn't celebrate Christmas I have to admit to putting up a tree last year, just so that I could admire it :).  Ok, so there was a bit more to it... I'm not completely against Christmas.  However it is a bit early to be sharing Christmas card ideas with you, but before you know it December the 25th will be here and you won't have time to craft, so I urge you to get a making your cards early.

 

Here's the 3rd and final card from this weeks Christmas card club session, using the lovely Scentsational Season stamp set again, but this time the trees...

 



The base is Real Red, I've then added a strip of the Festival of Prints DSP to the bottom and cut a Scallop Circle die from Whisper White which I have then run through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder to create the backdrop for the trees. 

 

The trees have been inked in Old Olive and then cut out using the co-ordinating dies.  I've added a couple of Basic Rhinestones to the top of the trees but think they could do with a few more scattered around.

More Christmas themed cards to follow after my next class on Thursday this week, but I promise tomorrow I will have something non-Christmassy for you.

Happy Birthday Bridget

Today I have a card to share with you that I made for a friend/colleague... Happy Birthday Bridget!

 



She loves the colour purple... and several other things, but as I can't share any of the products from the new catalogue that is released on 1st October, with you just yet I had to create a card with some of the current products.

 

The Every Little Bit stamp set is ideal for so many occasions, so I have picked the girly perfume and handbag and added the butterfly from the For Everything stamp set (retiring).

 

The 1 3/8 Circle punch and Scallop Circle punch work well for so many things... and made this card very simple.

Wintery punch art

My August class  last Saturday was themed as 'Punch Art'... and so we had lots of fun creating a number of different cards using a variety of the Stampin' Up! punches including this summery card which I've already shared with you:

 

 

There's always a few ladies who like to have a play with some of the card ideas that I prepare for them and this is where the summertime became winter, with a change of Green (Old Olive) to White (Whisper white) and an Owl punch...

 

So cute!  And it's just another creation from the amazing Owl punch which retails at just £15.50.  You could purchase this and some card stock and need very little else initially :).

Summery punch art class

This morning I have my Punch Art class and am very much looking forward to it!  My crafty partner in crime, Amy will be missing in action sadly, so one of the cards we will be making is dedicated to her and CASE'd from her too :)

 



 

I've used a Whisper White cardbase and mounted a piece of Old Olive card and a slightly smaller piece of Bashful Blue card onto it.

 

The sheep is created from Basic Black card using the Owl Punch and the body is Whisper White punched with the Scallop Circle punch and run through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder using the Big Shot machine.  Then finally the legs are made from the Word Window punch.

The 'grass' was created with the Scallop Circle die using Old Olive card stock and then the flowers are punched with the Boho Blossoms punch from some of the papers in the Cheerful Treat (Hostess only) paper pack.

 

Finally a Whisper White Word Window with the sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, selectively inking the 'just for' from the 'just for you' stamp and then handwriting the 'ewe' using a Stampin' Write Marker.

Baby announcement congratulations

Last week I shared with you a new baby card featuring the little ducky stamp from the Easy Events stamp set.  Today I've used the same stamp but for a congratulations card to celebrate the announcement of new baby news - is that what you call it?

I've gone for a circular shaped card base cut with the Scalloped Circle die from So Saffron card... as the expected arrival may be a boy or a girl.



I wanted to keep the layout simple as the size of the card is so cute and doesn't want to be overloaded... so I just cut a couple of pieces using the Labels Collection Framelits dies which are in the current Summer mini catalogue, one from some DSP and one in Whisper White, which I had stamped the image onto and coloured with Stampin' Write markers.

The sentiment is a sneal peek for the new catalogue due to be released in October... but that is all I can say about that for now.

A couple of Basic Perals to finish and a few dimensional sticky pads to fix the image panel to the card base and it's all ready :).

Fabric butterflies

I've just realised I've gone a bit overboard on the flowers the last couple of days, so though I'd change the theme slightly... and the card shape :).

For this card I have used the Scalloped Circle die to create a base from Very Vanilla and then embossed this with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder.

The butterflies (cut with the Beautiful Butterflies die) are made from the new Twitterpated fabric in the Summer mini catalogue, adhered to card stock with multipurpose adhesive sheets, and then mounted on the card base, with a couple of Basic Pearls each to finish.

This card obviously took just a few minutes to make but I think it's still very effective - sometimes simple just works. 

I promise something a little more masculine themed for tomorrow ...

Scalloped circle die - ladybird

Here is a great card idea which uses the scalloped circle die, designed by Amy, which was shared with us on Sunday at a crafty get together.

It's a nice quick card consisting of mainly punches, and something a bit different which would be suitable for a number of occasions.

I'm going to have to have a proper play with this die soon...

Downline design

So Kat chose the Button Buddies stamp set as one of her sets in the starter kit and I got to have a play at my last crafty get together.  This was her design...

Isn't it cute!  Kat has done quite a bit of card making before signing up, and she was totally at home sharing her project with the rest of us and took to demonstrating it, like a pig to mud lol!

The card base is Very Vanilla cardstock folded in half and then run through the Big Shot using the Scallop Circle Die. Next we ran a strip of  Certainly Celery DSP from the Subtles collection through the Big Shot with the same die, then snipped it to create some grass and glued at the base of the card.

On a piece a Very Vanilla we then stamped piggy in Rose Red ink, cut him out and glued him to the base. We then stamped out the 'nose' and cut this out, using a dimensional sticky pad to raise it up/create a 3D effect.

Finally we stamped the 'happy birthday' sentiment from the 'Create-a-Cupcake' stampset in Rose Red ink onto some Very Vanilla card and punched it out using the Word Window Punch and again used dimensional sticky pads to attach to the base.

Just under 2 months...

...to go until Christmas.  The ladies attending my Christmas card club on Wednesday now have 30 cards ready with plenty of time before they need to think about sending them.  There are only 2 more sessions left on Wednesday evenings at 7pm, so let me know if you want to come along and join in the fun - full details can be found on my classes page.

Here is one of the cards we made last night.

The base was cut from Very Vanilla card stock using the scalloped circle die run through the big shot.  This is another easle style card which is created by folding the front of the card in half and then cutting a separate scalloped circle and adhering this to the folded half.  To stand this type of card you need something on the base to create the 'easle' and here I have used a tag raised on dimensional pads.  On the tag I have stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Petite Pairs stampset and then sponge daubered the edges - all in Chocolate Chip ink.

To create the main part of the card, I have used the wreath stamp from the Welcome Christmas stampset, inked in Wild Wasabi and stamped onto Certainly Celery cardstock and then coloured in the berries with a Real Red marker.  I've raised this up with a dimensional.

The bird was created using my favourite punch (2 step bird punch) on Sahara Sand cardstock and them sponge daubered with Chocolate Chip ink.  You will see that the red breast has been punched from Real Red card and added before sticking the wing on with a dimensional sticky pad.

The bottom part of the scallop has been decorated with a 4cm strip of the Holly Berry DSP and a piece of Real Red grosgain ribbon. 

I am so pleased with the finished card as it looks like it took ages... but as those of you who attended my Christmas card club will know, once you know how it's pretty quick to pull together... although it's certainly not a quick one to make when you have 5 to finish!
