Catalogue launch event ice creams

It's been a busy day of crafting, with my catalogue launch event this afternoon and then some more crafting with friends... I was so engrossed I completely forgot to take photo's of their great cards :(.

 

I've also been finalising the card designs for my upcoming Christmas card club... and then my sister arrived and after dropping her off this evening to a wedding reception I have finally sat down :)

 

So here is the make and take project that I CASE'd from a card that my crafty friend Amy shared with us as her swap at a recent demonstrator get together.

This card uses the Cupcake Builder punch... to create ice creams.  You will see we have used Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla card stock for the different lumps of ice cream and the cone is actually created from Crumbcake card stock, using the base of one of the pennants from the Perfect Pennants die, although the Petite Pennants Builder punch would work just as well.  The cone has then been embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder.

 

For the make and take card I've used a Very Vanilla card base and a Decorative Label punch cut from Pool Party card stock for the background piece. 

 

Check back tomorrow for a slight twist on the make and take card which utilises the lovely Create a Cupcake set that is now back in the main catalogue, and from which I have used the sentiment for the card above.

 



 

Happy Birthday Bridget

Today I have a card to share with you that I made for a friend/colleague... Happy Birthday Bridget!

 



She loves the colour purple... and several other things, but as I can't share any of the products from the new catalogue that is released on 1st October, with you just yet I had to create a card with some of the current products.

 

The Every Little Bit stamp set is ideal for so many occasions, so I have picked the girly perfume and handbag and added the butterfly from the For Everything stamp set (retiring).

 

The 1 3/8 Circle punch and Scallop Circle punch work well for so many things... and made this card very simple.

Vellum dress

Tomorrow I have my last chance class - where we will be using products that are retiring this month.  Check out the retiring list here if you haven't done already... as I write this most of the items were are using in the class still remain on the lis,t but don't leave it too late or you will miss out.

 

Here is one of the cards we made at last months punch art class... apologies that the photo isn't great.

 



 

The card base was created from a piece of Crumbcake cardstock and then I attached a length of Very Vanilla seam binding ribbon (tied in a simple knot) across a piece of DSP and then adhered this to the card base.

 

The panel is a piece of Very Vanilla card stock matted behind a piece of Crumbcake card and then the dress has been created from shapes cut from the Scallop Circle punch, 3 layers of vellum embossed with the Beautiful Bouquet embossing folder over a carefully cut DSP Scallop Circle, to create a bodice.

Smashing birthday

If you are a regular follower of my blog you will know that I celebrated my birthday last week.  I was in Krakow in Poland and spent the day sightseeing, walking and then had a meal at a Mexican to finish.  It was a really lovely day and after recent birthdays being some what melancholy that is a really big thing for me. 

I was also overwhelmed by the messages and cards that I received, thank you everyone x

Yesterday I was surprised by friends with a cake and presents by way of a late celebration over a Raclette (Swiss cheese meal), so that was lovely too...

So of course must share some of the cards with you along with my Smash book pages (as promised)...

I'm now up to date with my travel Smash book, with just a few snippets to add when time.  I have lots of other bits and pieces that I am looking forward to 'Smashing' into my general Smash book, but have yet to properly start it. 

Of course, I have used a few Stampin' Up! products, can you spot them?  Here's a close up to help:

I've used one of the label stamps from the Apothecary Art stamp set (excluding the flowers) to make a record of my day and also included one of the sentiments from the same set inked in Chocolate Chip onto Melon Mambo to co-ordinate with the lettering on the left hand page.

Cupcake madness

I'm just about to leave for Cambridge :( so have a quick post to share with you the cards we made at my cupcake madness class this morning.  I think everyone really enjoyed themselves, catching up and crafting, I know I did!

I was really brave with these ideas, and stayed away from my usual style and colours.  However most of the ideas themselves have been done before.  For example you may recognise the handbags from this post sometime ago, the flower shop... and of course the hot air balloon from here.

Swinging 60

There is no getting away from the fact that I love the Sale-A-Bration FREE stamp sets and papers and will be sad to see them go at the end of the month.  So, if you have had enough of seeing projects that use these products then I can only apologise.  With only 10 more days left of this event I do have a few more ideas to share with you...

This swing card however uses a couple of my favourites, which are not Sale-A-Bration products; the top note die and the cupcake builder punch.  

It is surprisingly easy to make the base from an A5 piece of Whisper White which I have cut with the top note die, but only using half of it.  The front then folds back on itself to make the top note 'swing'.

If you want to have a go at this run your card base through the die using your big shot but make sure you only place the cutting pads across half of the die, so that the edge lines up directly with the centre (where the fold will then be, when you fold the front back on itself).  That way the die only cuts against the cutting pad and leaves the other half of the card in tact.

To make the top note panel stand out I have run some mirror card (non Stampin' Up!) through the top note die and then also cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry and then trimmed off the edge before placing this inside so that it becomes framed.

For the centre image I have used the stamp from the Sale-A-Bration Elementary Elegance stamp set inked with Versamark ink and then embossed with Silver embossing powder using a heat gun.  This creates a raised effect and the silver stands out particularly well on the dark card.

Other materials:

Cupcake builder punch - using scraps of DSP to create the cupcake and then decorated with basic rhinestones before placing in the corner using dimensional sticky pads.

Timeless type junior alphabet dies - for the numbering cut from mirror card (non Stampin' Up!).

Sentiment - Teeny Tiny Wishes, stamped with versamark onto a scrap of DSP and embossed in silver and then punched out with the Word Window Punch.

3D hot air balloon

A few weeks back I posted details of a project using the Create a Cupcake stamp set for a card suitable for men and other occasions.

Today I have a slight twist on this idea which uses Designer Series Paper (DSP) instead. 



The base is Whisper White and i have adhered a piece of DSP from the 'Subtles' collection onto this for the background.

As with the previous card idea the basket is created from the cupcake 'base' stamp inked with Chocolate Chip onto Crumbcake card stock and the clouds are the top of the cupcake punched from Whisper White.  

The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set inked in Chocolate Chip and punched with the Word Window punch.

In case you were wondering I'm not running out of inspiration... I'm just limited on crafting time of late whilst living between 2 houses and trying to fit in my life into the weekends!  I have Friday off to go along to the Make It show in Farnborough so will find more time then, hopefully.

Some of the other demonstrators local to me will be going along so do stop by and say hi at their stand if you are passing through.

Cupcake craze

I've gone cupcake crazy recently after the Spring mini catalogue was released as the new Create a Cupcake stampset and co-ordinating punch creates so many different ideas... 

Today though, I have a couple of cards that I made with another cupcake stampset! 

Two of my very good friends whose birthdays we are celebrating properly at the end of the month are hopefully not going to be disappointed with these.  They use the Crazy for Cupcakes stampset which is in the main catalogue - instead of lots of different bits to decorate the cupcakes with (like the Create a Cupcake set), you can just stamp each image and then colour or decorate to your hearts desire!

The colours I've used here are Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise from the brights range.

- Base: Whisper White cardstock 13.5 x 27cm; folded to create a square card.

- Background: Tempting Turquoise cardstock 12 x 12cm embossed using Big Shot (embossing folder is non Stampin' Up!).

- Image: Inked with Chocolate Chip and coloured with blender pens using Stampin' Write markers and then decorated with seed beads (non Stampin' Up!); note the candle has been stamped on Melon Mambo cardstock and cut out/stuck on.

- Sentiments: From the Create a Cupcake stampset (mini catalogue), inked with Chocolate Chip and the Teeny Tiny Wishes (main catalogue) also inked with the same colour.

More alternative cupcake ideas

I promise to post something made with another stampset soon, but I just love the new Create a Cupcake set so much :).

The background piece is Pink Pirouette 10 x 14.5 run through the Square Lattice embossing folder and fixed to a Whisper White card base - note that I have used a Chocolate Chip marker pen to create a faux stitching effect around the edge.

The main panel is Whisper White 6 x 11cm and backed with Chocolate Chip 6.5 x 11.5cm.  The handbags are stamped with the cupcake 'base' stamp in Chocolate Chip and Pink Pirouette.  The flaps on the bags have been created with the corner/edge of the new Postage Stamp punch (which I have then cut into with scissors to obtain the required size/shape). Finished with a Basic Pearl and the sentiment.

Cupcakes for men and other occasions

Happy Friday the 13th - eek!

Do you struggle for ideas for male cards like I do?  What about other occasions? If you have the Create a Cupcake stampset and/or co-ordinating punch then this card can be made by you in no time... I have to admit that I CASE'd it from the web, in fact if you google this stampset you will get lots of alternative uses for it and I have adapted the ideas slightly.

The base is Calypso Coral from the new In Colours, and I have co-ordinated the hot air ballon using a 1 3/8" circle punch and the new ruffled ribbon (stuck with red sticky tape) along with Daffodil Delight cardstock.  I've run the balloon through the stripes embossing folder before adding the red tape on the back to stick the ribbon. 

Can you see that the basket is created from the cupcake 'base' stamp inked with Chocolate Chip.  The clouds are the top of the cupcake punched from Whisper White.  The background is Bashful Blue run through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  Finally the sentiment in Calypso Coral punched out of Whisper White using the Word Window punch.

Try using DSP instead of cardstock and see what you can come up with...

New cupcake punch

This weeks has been the longest ever... looking for somewhere to live, trying to juggle 2 jobs and then being stuck in a hotel each night is not much fun by myself!  Hopefully once I find somewhere to settle things will improve.

So, back in the craft world....

As well as the great Create a Cupcake set that is in the new mini catalogue, there is a co-ordinating punch.  I can hardly contain my excitement - I truely love this set and the punch just as much!  You don't even need the stampset... as the punch creates some lovely shapes that are just enough on their own.  However I urge you to purchase this before it is too late as the catalogue ends on 30th April and it is likely that these products will be discontinued after that.

So other than the sentiment which is from the Create a Cupcake 'new' stampset, this card has been created uses the cupcake punch and a few other punches.  The colours are Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and Melon Mambo (hearts).  The punches also include the eyelet border, curly tag and owl punch (hearts).  The 'stalk' part of the stand is just cut freehand.

Happy birthday Lee, I hope you’re having fun!

It’s my sister’s birthday today and she is in Barcelona so I didn’t quite manage to get this card to her before she left ... and as usual I haven’t sorted out a present yet either! 

The base is Wisteria Wonder cut and folded to create a 5x7” card base.  The base panel is Very Vanilla and the DSP is from the Cheerful Treat (Hostess only) pack.  I’ve used a piece of the Wisteria Wonder ruffled ribbon across the join and colour co-ordinated the Pink Pirouette that is in the DSP with the 30 which has been cut using the Timeless Junior Alphabet die run through the big shot machine.

For the cupcakes I’ve used Pretty in Pink, Pear Pizzazz, Wisteria Wonder and So Saffron with the Create a cupcake stampset and co-ordinating punch. 

The sentiment is from the For My Family stampset which includes most family members and seems to feature on a lot of my card commisions. 

I'm totally loving this new stampset that was released in the new spring mini catalogue and there are so many ideas that you can create with it.  But be warned this item may not be available after the catalogue ends on 30th April 2012 so get it now whilst you can!

New mini catalogue launch make and take

Thank you to everyone who attended my mini catalogue event last night and those of you that couldn’t be there, the make and take and catalogue will be with you shortly and you can still take advantage of my 10% discount offer until Friday. 

Here are the instructions for the card we made which uses the new stampset Create a Cupcake (RRP £16.95/20.95) and co-ordinating punch (RRP £15.50).  It's a great set with 12 different stamps including 3 very good sentiments.  In my view there isn't one stamp in this set that you wouldn't use and the punch makes it all so much easier :)!

The base is Very Vanilla (A5 folded in half).  The DSP comes from the subtles collection (Pretty in Pink dotty sheet) and has been cut to 11 x 5cm with a small section cut out by hand to create the ‘flag’ effect.

For the cupcake image the colours used are Pool Party, So Saffron, Rose Red and Wild Wasabi.  The co-ordinating punch makes it nice and easy to get the shapes cut our perfectly.  Using dimensional sticky pads means it's nice and quick to mount and then I’ve finished this off with some basic rhinestones.  A super quick card and the colours can easily be switched around for different recipients and even male cards (although I would used buttons instead of basic rhinestones to embellish and probably a more masculine patterned paper with perhaps stripes?).

When I get a new stampset or punch I try to 'spend time with it' developing ideas so that I don't get overwhelmed by all the other products in my stash... so after a late night yesterday I now have a few ideas to share with you over the next week or so made with just this set and punch.
