Mr and Mrs Owly

Today I have a wedding card to show you made with the Owl punch.  This is just such a versatile punch, anyone who doesn't own it really should get one!  

I've had a little play around with the punch shapes to create the outfits for the groom and bride, and everything is created with just the punch.  Check out some of my other Owl punch ideas here.

I've also created a background with the Honeycomb embossing folder and added a sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set, punched out with the Curly Label punch.

Non traditional Christmas colouring



There are a couple of demonstrators whose work I really like, and Fiona at Oakfiled Crafts is one of them.

 

Here is the card she made for a swap at our last get together, I've been saving it for a bit nearer to Christmas but couldn't wait any longer :).

 



Fiona has used Midnight Muse from the 2012-2014 In Colour collection and Rich Razzleberry (one of my old favs).  The Scallop Trim border is More Mustard, and these colours work really well togeter.

 

The stamp set is Snow Swirled from the Christmas section of the main catalogue, the background has also been inked with the decorative stamps.

Comfort Cafe butterfly thanks

Today I have a card created with the lovely Comfort Cafe fabric, as I really love these colours.

 



The base is Whisper White and I've teamed Summer Star Fruit (new in colours) with Pool Party.  If you look closely you will see that I've embossed the Scallop Circle die cut with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder and then layered this over a panel of Summer Start Fruit card stock which has strips of Pool Party cut with one of the Finishing Touches Edgelits dies. 

 

The butterfly has been cut with the Beautiful Butterflies die after mounting the fabric onto card.

Christmas isn't Christmas without trees

Even as someone who doesn't celebrate Christmas I have to admit to putting up a tree last year, just so that I could admire it :).  Ok, so there was a bit more to it... I'm not completely against Christmas.  However it is a bit early to be sharing Christmas card ideas with you, but before you know it December the 25th will be here and you won't have time to craft, so I urge you to get a making your cards early.

 

Here's the 3rd and final card from this weeks Christmas card club session, using the lovely Scentsational Season stamp set again, but this time the trees...

 



The base is Real Red, I've then added a strip of the Festival of Prints DSP to the bottom and cut a Scallop Circle die from Whisper White which I have then run through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder to create the backdrop for the trees. 

 

The trees have been inked in Old Olive and then cut out using the co-ordinating dies.  I've added a couple of Basic Rhinestones to the top of the trees but think they could do with a few more scattered around.

More Christmas themed cards to follow after my next class on Thursday this week, but I promise tomorrow I will have something non-Christmassy for you.

Elmo and cookie monster

The cards I have to share with you today were quite fun to make...

 

There are endless ideas for Sesame Street characters all over the web and most of them can be created using the Scallop Circle punch.

 

I've created Elmo/Cookie Monster using the Scallop Circle punch from Real Red and Pacific Point card stock and then the features were punched using the Owl punch (the mouth is the base of the owl).

 

Hopefully you can see that the square panel is embossed using the Square Lattice embossing folder and raised up with dimensionals over the strip punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch, from Calypso Coral card (above) and Crumbcake card (below).

 

 

The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs stamp set, inked in co-ordinating Real Red and Pacific Point ink on each card respectively, then punch out with the 1 3/8 Circle punch with a co-ordinating circle behind to create a 'shadow' effect. 

 

Just 3 more days until the weekend and I can go home :(...

Kitty bling

Cards with animals always seem to go down very well, especially those with cats or dogs.  The Every Little Bit stamp set has lots of variety including a few animals... and this little cat is one of my favs.

I've completely CASE'd this card, which I saw at the Bracknell craft show a few weeks back, although I've used a different sentiment... however I don't know who made it originally, but would give credit if anyone does?

I've stamped the little cat onto Whisper White card stock and then punched out with the Perfect Postage punch, which isn't currently available in the the catalogues, but hopefully it will return in October.  I've created a little frame by cutting out a square of Real Red card stock and then raised the image up with dimensionals.  To make the card a little more luxurious I have added some bling - Basic Rhinestones, to create the kitty's collar.  Finally the sentiment is from the Petite Pairs stamp set.

Camberly WI

Last night I went along to the WI meeting in Camberley to do a demo for some of the ladies.  I'd had the date in my diary for a few months, but only designed the card at the weekend following final confirmation of the event. 

My crafty friend Amy who is also a demonstrator was planning to come along for support but she wasn't able to make it in the end.  Fortunately a couple of other demonstrators were there, Diane and Pip; and it was just as well as we were kept busy throughout the evening :).

It was lovely to meet so many new people, and I do hope that some will be attending my future classes etc soon.

Here is the card that I created for the evening:

The card base in Soft Suede and I have then matted a panel of Old Olive card with a piece of one of the papers from the Cheerful Treat Designer Series Paper pack on page 9 of the main catalogue.  These papers are only available with 'hostess' pounds so why not book a party, get some friends together and take advantage of the other offers on throughout July. 

I have added a strip of Old Olive/Soft Suede across the card and fixed this at either end to create a band to hold the bookmark, and then added a sentiment "to someone who makes others so happy!" punched out of Very Vanilla card with the Curly Label punch.

The ladies got a chance to make the bookmark for themselves to take home.

Can you see how it's a little tree with a owl in it ;)?!  The strip of Soft Suede has been stamped with the Woodgrain stamp in Chocolate Chip ink and then I have attached a Old Olive Scalloped Circle on one end.  The little owl comes from the Fox and Friends stamp set, inked in Chocolate Chip onto Very Vanilla and then punched out with a 1 3/8 inch Circle punch.

It was lovely to meet so many ladies and so local to me...

For a traveller

I have gone back to my favourite colour combinations to create this card... another of those we made at my Big Shot class.  I've gone for Elegant Eggplant (I just love all the purply shades!), Old Olive and Whisper White, which I think works really well.



Keeping it simple and using the Top Note to create a frame I have inked the image from the Open Sea stamp set in Old Olive and the sentiment (Petite Pairs) in Elegant Eggplant, before cutting out and mounting onto Old Olive card. 

The base has been stamped randomly with the compass image, using Versamark which once dry creates a lovely subtle background.  I've then fixed the Top Note with dimensionals.

All these travel related stamps make me want to get planning my next trip, I've already started compiling a scrap book for the places I've been to so far this year... why not check out my latest travel blog (see blog links on the left hand side) and give me some ideas of where to go next, cos I just can't decide ;)?!

Wedding hearts

Wedding season is upon us it seems.  I don't actually own any of the wedding stamp sets yet, although I have got my eye on the Love and Laughter stamp set in the current Summer mini catalogue.

So, for these wedding cards I have used the Heart punch and some embossing folders.  Actually amazingly simple to make once you have punched out the pieces and embossed them.

The papers are from the Beau Chateau DSP paper pack, which I am sad to say is probably up there in my favourites as it has papers which are suitable for feminine and masculine cards, and sadly I have almost used up my pieces from a paper share ...

The framelits dies make a great background, after I have embossed them with the Perfect Polka dots die, and the lovely Organza ribbon is also moving up my list of favourites as it adds the final touches to give a more luxurious feel.

Flowery buttons

I thought I'd share another idea using the Designer Buttons with you today...

The Button Buddies stamp set on page 34 of the main catalogue has some great stamps and all of them are designed to fit the Stampin' Up! buttons, although you can of course create plenty of designs without these too.

I recently made a couple of very quick birthday cards using the 'vase with flowers' image from this set, and had a play with some different colour combinations.  Wisteria Wonder, Rose Red and Whisper White, with the flower buttons from the 'Subtles' collection.  And for the second card, Bashful Blue and Perfect Plum.

I find the Stapin' Write marker pens are ideal for inking up stamps with more than one colour and makes it very easy to create cards like this quickly and in a variety of colours.  The sentiments are from the Petite Pairs stamp set, which has lots of lovely words to add to your cards and which I can highly recommend (a close second to the Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiments).

By my calculations it's Friday (sorry, scheduling posts at the beginning of the week again)! I'm running out of projects to share with you but with any luck I will get to do some crafting this weekend.

Secondly, if you don't know already... don't forget that the Spring mini catalogue ends on Monday!  So wanted to share a couple of ideas with you using one of my favourite stamp sets and co-ordinating punches before they retire... it's the Perfect Postage set....

I've already shared a few cards with you that uses this stamp set, so here is another one which uses one of the stamps in the background, designed by Amy.

And this one uses the punch along with a few other items:

I've used the Perfect Pairs sentiments stamp set from the main catalogue as these fit nicely inside this punch, and as you can see you can create a border too.  I've used Whisper White and Rose Red for the sentiment on this card.  The image is from the lovely Button Buddies stamp set which is designed to fit the Designer Buttons... so cool!

Crafting weekend keeps sickness at bay

Yesterday's crafty get together was brilliant and just what I needed after a very long working week.  Thank you to all the lovely ladies who joined in the fun and for the lovely projects that you shared with us all.  I have already been CASEing some of the ideas and using the layouts for other projects.

You will have to keep checking back during the week for some of these.

There was also more crafting last night as my good friend Tori and her husband to be stopped by for dinner, and to design their wedding invites. The final version is definitely one I would give my thumbs up to and am looking forward to making them all next month en-mass!

Today I'm doing something a bit different on the crafting front.  I'm attending a jewellery workshop so hope to be sharing what I make with you there too, if all goes to plan.

I keep being told I should rest a little or I will get sick, no chance (!) ... a weekend of crafting is sure to fix me up, so here's a sick card instead :).
