Loving the Occasions Alphabet stamp set so much

Perfect for scrapbooking and personalising cards I absolutely love the Occasions Alphabet stamp set and can't get enough of it. 

 

Here's a carc made to congratulate a couple on their new home.  Featuring the cute little cuckoo clock stamp from the Easy Events stamp set, mounted on a Decorative Label punch... 

 

There are of course some lovely little sentiments that goes with the alphabets, which makes them so versatile as there is something for many occasions.

 



Contempo hot air balloon

This is the first chance I've had to sit down for 5 minutes all weekend... my own fault for trying to cram so much in of course!

After a lovely day of crafting yesterday, followed by some walking and dinner with a friend, today was more of the latter and now I'm exhausted. 

So here is a quick card which is appropriate for this time of year and the still reasonable weather we have been having.

Do you remember the fabulous Christmas themed stamp set Contempo Christmas... well, sadly it's also retiring this month from the main catalogue, which is a great shame as it can also be used for non-Christmas themed cards.

 

Here's one of the cards we made at my class yesterday, using the lovely Brights collection Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise colour theme.

 

The base is Tempting Turquoise and I have cut a piece of Melon Mambo card stock which has then been run through the Stripes embossing folder for the background.  The image is of course the 'Christmas bauble' stamped upside down in Tempting Turquoise ink to march and the little basket was created with the 'flower pot' part of the Christmas tree stamp and then cut out and raised up with dimensional sticky pads.

To finish the 'strings' of the hot air balloon have been drawn in with a Sahara Sand Stampin' Write marker pen and the sentiment is from the Easy Events stamp set, punched out with the Word Window punch.

New home's

It seems quite a few people I know are moving home or have moved recently.  Tonight I'm going to a long over due house warming dinner party with friends.  So of course I had to make a card, in fact I have had to make three New Home cards in the last couple of weeks, so I went with similar designs but in different colours and with a slight twist on each...

I hope Marie and Matt are very happy in their new place... looking forward to seeing it later.

You will see that I have used Marina Mist for the base and co-ordinated the lettering cut with the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies.  I've attached these to the background panel, created from Very Vanilla card stock run through the Square Lattice embossing folder.  And then of course the little cuckoo that comes from the Easy Events stamp set that I have cut out and coloured with blender pens and then adhered to the base with dimensional sticky pads.

Next up is a card I made for a friend at work... she hasn't moved in officially yet but the purchase completed last week so hopefully there is a mantle piece or suitable worktop for the card to go on soon x.

For this card I have used Perfect Plum for the base and lettering and then stamped the cuckoo image directly onto the Shimmery White card stock that I have used in background.  I've coloured the image with blender pens in the same way as the other card, but the shimmery card creates a lovely effect.  Notice the corners of the panel have been punched out with a petal from one of the Boho Blossoms punch flowers and I've added some Basic Rhinestones to finish.

Then finally, a card for my cousin and his wife.  They haven't actually moved yet either and my Aunt/Uncle are helping them out with the move over the bank holiday weekend... but they have the keys!

I've changed the background panel by using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and then added some Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, and in stead of the cuckoo... the little bird in it's cage, from from the Every Little Bit stamp set.

Happy birthday cuckoo

Today I have a card to share with you that I made for a friend... we almost share the same birthday so every year without fail (I think) we manage to remember each others birthdays... I have no excuse really as a card maker however!

I've used the cuckoo stamp from the Easy Events stamp set... which I don't seem to use often enough, despite the choice of stamps!

Coloured using blender pens and Stampin' Write Markers I have then matted onto Bashful Blue and Early Espresso card stock and then attached a strip of DSP across a Certainly Celery card base and finished with a sentiment from the Happiest Birthday Wishes (hostess only) stamp set.

Baby announcement congratulations

Last week I shared with you a new baby card featuring the little ducky stamp from the Easy Events stamp set.  Today I've used the same stamp but for a congratulations card to celebrate the announcement of new baby news - is that what you call it?

I've gone for a circular shaped card base cut with the Scalloped Circle die from So Saffron card... as the expected arrival may be a boy or a girl.



I wanted to keep the layout simple as the size of the card is so cute and doesn't want to be overloaded... so I just cut a couple of pieces using the Labels Collection Framelits dies which are in the current Summer mini catalogue, one from some DSP and one in Whisper White, which I had stamped the image onto and coloured with Stampin' Write markers.

The sentiment is a sneal peek for the new catalogue due to be released in October... but that is all I can say about that for now.

A couple of Basic Perals to finish and a few dimensional sticky pads to fix the image panel to the card base and it's all ready :).

A ducky for baby Elodie

Today I have a new baby card to share with you that I made for my friend Lee and his wife Christine to congratulate them on the arrival of their cute little baby Elodie... and what a beautiful choice of name.  Congratulations to you both x

This card features the very versative Top Note die in Pink Pirouette and Wisteria Wonder, I've embossed the inner piece with the Stripes embossing folder and trimmed off the edge before mounting onto the frame piece.

The ducky from the Easy Events stamp set has been inked with Wisteria Wonder ink (to co-ordinate) and stamped onto Whisper White, which I have then embossed with the Designer Frames embossing folder and cut out and coloured with Stampin' Write markers.

You will notice that my cards are becoming very Big Shot orientated... it's just totally addictive to use it for cuttig and embossing and with som many lovely dies and embossing folders there is very little cutting out by hand like the old days ;).

I've tied some Organza ribbon around the Top Note and then adhered the frame with dimensionals to raise it up slightly.  All of that has then been stuck onto a Whisper White card base... which I do keep going back to because it's so 'clean'.  Then I've added a designer button tied with Bakers Twine to finish.  The colours could be changed to suit a boy too... why not give it a try.

Handy to have cards

It's so easy to forget a birthday... and as a card maker I am probably even worst than most people!  So here is a card idea that I CASE'd from the web and adapted a little in order to use some more of those lovely Nursery Nest papers (see left hand card, as the other card uses papers from the Brights collection paper pack) that you can get FREE this month with an order of £45.

It uses the very lovely Button Buddies set which is designed to fit the Designer Buttons available in the main catalogue.  And couldn't resist making 2 of these handy cards, in Marina Mist and Perfect Plum with co-ordinating buttons...

I have used the Top Note die to cut a piece of Whisper White and then cut a strip of the DSP also using the die.  To cover the join I have used some Grosgrain ribbon in Early Espresso... note that it's just a length of ribbon and then I have cut off a small piece and tied a knot in it to create the 'bow' by fixing this with sticky strip/red tape.

The sentiment from the Easy Events stamp set has been stamped in the same colour as the image stamp, Chocolate Chip and the button was fixed on with sticky strip/red tape to make sure it was extra secure.

Yesterday I shared with you a great way to use up scraps of card and create ribbons.  Today I've got lots more of ideas to use up leftovers :0). 

I do really like the brights colour collection and my favourite combo has to be Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive, the first 2 Stampin' Up! ink pads I ever owned... and of course I have lots of scraps in these colours as I use them all the time. 

I've stuck with one stamp set to create these little notecards which are made from a base measuring 3.5 x 7cm - Easy Events.  A nice quick stampset where you can mix and match the sentiments with the images or just stamp the stamp as is.

There are a variety of other tools used here: Eyelet Border punch, top note die (using the Big Shot machine) and blender pens.

Birdy birthday

Just a quick card for you today.  

The base is Crumbcake and I have combined Tempting turquoise card stock (punched along the edge with the Scallop Trim border punch) and some of the Brights DSP (Old Olive patterned piece). 

The image is from the Easy Events set coloured with blender pens using markers.  This particular image would suit any card really, but here I've teamed it up with a Happy Birthday sentiment (retired) inked in Old Olive.  Finally 3 brads.

Happy anniversary Mum & Dad

It's my Mum and Dad's wedding anniversary today... so Happy Anniversary to you both!  They have been married for almost 40 years, which I personally think is amazing, I only hope I end up like my parents one day; minus my dad's snoring ;)!

Here is the card that I made them using Wisteria Wonder for the base.  I have folded this to create a aperture front card and then cut a heart shape out of the middle panel before folding the end panels inside.  I ran a piece of Whisper White through an embossing folder (Not Stampin' Up!) and  placed this inside the heart shape and then added the birds from the Easy Events stampset, cut out and mounted on a branch punched with the 2 step bird punch.

 

I've used the flower image from the same stampset in the right hand corner above a strips of Whisper White punched with the Eyelet Border punch.  The seam binding ribbon is Pear Pizzaz and the sentiment is retired, but this colour combination and different use for the stampset works quite well.

I love seeing alternative ideas for using stampsets other than 'just as they come'.  Please do contact me with your ideas for this stampset that involves a little more than just inking and stamping :)?

Baby Emily

My cousin had a baby a couple of weeks ago... baby Emily.  I thought for a change rather than pink, I would go with Wisteria Wonder colour theme...



The photo isn't very good, but I only realised that once I had posted it so couldn't photograph it again.

You will see that I have coloured the image from the Easy Events stampset with blender pens using markers.  The background panel has been created from a square of Wisteria Wonder with a piece of the Perfect Plum DSP paper on it (cut slightly smaller).  Both squares have had the corners punched off using the Boho Blossoms punch (one of the petals).  The base has been finished off with a couple of So Saffron brads.

Same stamp, different card

This card uses the same cake image as yesterdays card, the difference here is that I have inked the image only and then the sentiment separately and used this to prop up the easle style card.  The card base is Melon Mambo cut to A5 and folded in half and then half again to create the easle.

I have used the Top Note die to cut a piece of Whisper White and a piece of Daffodil Delight and then cut the white piece to create a border in the yellow once mounted.  Note that I have embossed the Whisper White with a flowery embossing folder (not Stampin' Up!) before fixing to the base.

Changing the shape or style of the card base can make such a difference...

Birthday cake

I should be landing in Colombo, Sri Lanka this morning although it will be the afternoon when I get there.  If all has gone to plan and blogger is working then here is the first non Christmas card, as promised.

The card base is Sahara Sand cut to A5 and folded in half, I've then cut a strip of the Rose Red DSP and punched the edge with the Scallop Trim Border punch and also the same on a strip of Elegant Eggplant cardstock.

The image is from the Easy Events stampset which is so versatile and geat for mixing and matching sentiments for numerous occasions.  I've gone with the traditional cake and birthday sentiment for this card inked with Chocolate Chip and coloured with blender pens using markers.  I layered up the cake part with dimensionals and added a circle for the cherry on top and some basic pearls round the plate to give it a luxurious feel.

Ideas with trees...

There are quite a few stamp sets in the Stampin' Up! catalogue which have trees depicted on them.  At this time of year, tree's are great for cards with an autumn feel, like this swap that a fellow demonstrator gave to me at our last training day.  It uses one of the trees from the Lovely as a Tree stampset, which I keep thinking I should invest in as these seems to feature on so many cards. 

The card base is Cajun Craze from the Regals colour range, stamped with the oak leaf image from the Lovely as a Tree set in both Soft Suede and Cajun Craze ink.  The main image has been inked with Soft Suede and stamped onto Very Vanilla and them mounted on matching card stock. 

The sentiment is from the Clearly for You stampset and has been inked to match the image and then punched with the Jewelry tag punch, as has the leaf image (also from the Lovely as a Tree stampset), and both tags have been tied with linen thread.

Another stampset with a tree image is the Easy Events set, which I just love for the numerous images included that can be used for all and any occasion.  Here is the tree, used on one of the note cards shown here.

Thank you notes

I'm away for a few days in the Lake District again...

I thought I would share with you a couple of note cards that I made as part of this pizza box set last time I went up to the Lakes.  They are both made using the 'thank you' flower image stamp from the Easy Events stampset inked in Chocolate Chip and coloured with blender pens using Stampin' Up! markers.  I love the water colour effect that you can get with blender pens and it's so simple to achieve...



Both these cards use scraps from the brights DSP pack, the first uses small squares of paper behind the image panel in 2 different tones and the second uses just one design on the front of the card and behind the eyelet punched border on the inside too.

A Chocolate Chip decorative strip created with the eyelet punch and a couple of basic pearls finishes of the first card, but I have left the second card with just the DSP.

Easy thank you

Here is one of the 4 cards we made at my Cards for all Occasion's class yesterday.  I have used the cuckoo clock image with the thank you sentiment (from the flower image stamp) of the Easy Events stampset, by inking up the separate parts of each of the stamps.

 The card base is Sahara Sand cut into A5 and folded in half to A6 in size.  I have used the Scallop Trim Border punch on the right open edge and then used this on a piece of DSP from the subtles pack which I have then stuck inside the edge of the card back so that it decorates both the inside and outside of the card.

The image was inked in Chocolate Chip ink and stamped onto Very Vanilla card and then cut out and mounted on a piece of the DSP from the subtles pack (Wild Wasabi) before being mounted on a piece of Marina Mist cardstock, also edged with the Scallop Trim Border punch.

I've used markers and a blender pen to colour the image and decorated the corner with a few flowers cut with the Boho Blossoms punch. 

This is a nice layout which can be adapted for most cards for any occasion so hopefully the ladies who attended my class will be able to come up with some other ideas of their own for the Easy Events stampset.

Easy events box set with scraps

Happy Sunday!

I'll be on my way back home today... I have been in the Lake District making use of my Aunt/Uncle's holiday let, with friends for the weekend.

Here is the set of cards that I made for my Aunt as a thank you gift.

The box is based on the pizza box idea that I got from my Upline (Cate) and adapted slightly for a class sometime ago (see past class details here).  The cards are 10 x 10 cm in size and fit into the mini envelopes, all of which can be concealed inside the cute box.

 

I've decorated the box with a square of Very Vanilla cardstock stamped with the Christmas image (but without the sentiment) in Chocolate Chip ink, then mounted the panel onto a square of brights DSP (Old Olive spots).  The image is coloured with subtles markers using a blender pen.  The sentiment is from the Just Believe stampset and the flowers are made with the Boho Blossoms punch.

The cards were made from a variety of scraps of DSP and cardstock from the brights and subtles packs...

Easy events ... sort of

Hopefully if the weather is bearable I will be climbing one or two of the Wainwright mountains in the Lake District today.  There are 214 fells/mountains listed in the books by Alfred Wainwright and I have so far climbed only 11 of them!  I hope to complete all 214 in my lifetime, in memory of my late partner, Nick, as he had always said he wanted to do this... next month is the anniversary so I thought it was time to start and a few friends are joining me so it should be fun :).

Anyway, onto todays project which uses the tree stamp from the Easy Events stampset.  I've used the image only and stamped this 3 times in Wild Wasabi ink onto a Sahara Sand tall card base.

The garden themed image is created from cutting out scraps of card in a watering can shape inked with Sahara Sand/Wild Wasabi ink using a sponge dauber; a flower pot from Pumpkin Pie, run through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder using the big shot machine; and some scraps of funky foan (not Stampin' Up!) cut into welly shapes.  I've mounted the items onto a square of Wild Wasabi DSP and matted it with Certainly Celery and then Wild Wasabi cardstock.

I've used the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet die to cut the 70 numbering in Pumpkin Pie.

40th birthday cake

 

Hi all, I hope you are having a good week, I'm off to the Lake District today for a long weekend so have scheduled some posts for you whilst I am away that use the new Easy Events set.

For the card above, I have inked up the 'cake' image in Chocolate Chip and stamped onto a panel fo Whisper White before mounting onto a piece of Wisteria Wonder from the new 'In Colours'.  I stamped and cut out just the cake part of the image and raised it up with a dimensional sticky pad and then water coloured with inks, adding a cherry cut from a scrap of Real Red cardstock, to finish.

I have cut a strip of the Cheerful Treat DSP (only available to purchase with hostess pounds) and added a 1cm strip of Wisteria Wonder at the base and a strip punched with the scallop trim border punch (both edges) across the top.

To personalise I have written 'Sam' under the Happy Birthday sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink and then cut a 40 out of Wisteria Wonder with an alphabet die.

Birthday boy

This card is a nice quick and simple one that uses the cake image from the Easy Events stampset.  I've layered up the stamped image and then mounted the panel onto Island Indigo cardstock.  The DSP is from the brights pack and I have punched circles using the owl punch 'eyes' from Island Indigo scraps and then adhered them in a row along the top of the DSP panel.

The letters were cut using the timeless type junior alphabet die run through my big shot.  I love how easy it is to cut lettering out with these dies... and they are great for personalising cards and gifts.
