Cute polar party stamps

Yay it's the weekend and yay I'm not working!

 

With a nice lie in this morning catching up on some reading ahead of my next trip I almost forgot about not having anything scheduled on here. 

 

I'm off to finish off the rest of my class prep for the coming weeks but as promised here is another of the cards we created at this weeks Christmas card club...

 



The Polar Party stamp set is just soooo cute, and with a few little characters and bits and pieces to choose from I tried to keep this card simple, as we had 12 to make in less than 3 hours (should have been 2 and a half - but those bows [see yesterdays post]!).  As usual I probably got carried away with the intricasies of cutting out and embossing :).

 

The base is Pool Party and I have inked the tree and sentiment stamps with Versamark ink and then embossed with Whisper White embossing powder using a heat gun.  It creates a lovely effect but can be a little bit fiddly.  The ladies at my class got into it quickly, but the cutting out of the little characters defeated them a bit and as I had sneakily planned, this was a great project to take home to finish off cutting out in front of the telly (or wherever).

 

One more thing I have to share with you is the snow... it's a piece of Shimmery White card which has been run through one of the dies from the Finishing Touches Edgelits in the main catalogue on page 190.  The other one is more intricate, but the zig zag design is idea for this card (I think).

Retired letter dies

I saw this card and I had to CASE it.  Such a great idea for using the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies, yet another retiring product this month - and which has also sold out :(.

 

I really am devastated that these are going as I love to used them for both my scrapbooking and card making, as they always save the day when I need a quick card for a particular occasion where a word can say it all!

With the upcoming new catalogue which will be released in just over 10 days (on the 1st October) there are some new letter dies, which are very very similar so don't worry too much, in fact I reckon you would hardly notice the difference if you made this card with those instead... you just have to wait until next month to get your paws on them though!

 

I'm looking forward to going home tomorrow... 3 days in Cambridge this week is no doubt going to take it's toll.  I hopefully have a day off Friday to go along to the Sandown Craft show to make up for the lack of crafting this week... so watch out for some new catalogue ideas which I will be posting soon.

Gift card for a voucher

It's so simple to make, but you do need a Big Shot machine to emboss the card and die cut the lettering.

 

I've used Bashful Blue card stock for the base and run this through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and then run a piece of Blushing Bride through the Manhattan Rose embossing folder and cut the flowers out by hand.

 

The lettering is the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies that retire this month, cut into Bashful Blue card scraps and then adhered to the front of the card with glue.  To finish a few Basic Rhinestones and it's ready to insert your gift voucher or use as just a card.

Elegant wedding wishes

This lovely weather we are having probably isn't going to be good for those that are getting married this weekend!  Today I have an Elegant Eggplant themed wedding card to share with you...

I've used the White Shimmery card on the base to create the background against the Elegant Eggplant card stock.  For the main panel the Top Note was used with the centre piece being cut out and embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder.

I have then added the heart shapes punched from the Heart punch (note that the bride one has been embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder).  I have then created a flower with the Fun Flower die using Elegant Eggplant and finishing with a designer button.

I'm off to see the Olympic torch this evening so I hope this bad weather goes away :).

Quick embossed note cards

I have a couple of very quick note cards to share with you today, created using the manhattan flower embossing folder on Pink Pirouette and Calypso Coral card stock.

After running the A6 pieces of card through the Big Shot machine, using the embossing folders I have added a length of Very Vanilla Seam Binding ribbon and then adhered them only Very Vanilla card bases and added a couple of Basic Pearls to finish.

Suitable for note cards, or you could add a sentiment for a specific occassion.

RSVP

Finally I can post this card that I made for my friends Tori and Macca following receipt of their wedding invite!

If you are a regular follower of my blog you will have seen the wedding stationery that I have been helping them design and make for their big day... and the colour combination they chose is Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait, so of course I had to incorporate these into a card to match for my RSVP.

I was a little worried by Tori saying that she was 'sick of seeing those colours' a little while ago, when we were finishing off the final batch of invites, so I hope she will still appreciate my card as I did make it some time ago ...

There is lots of Big Shot action on this card, the base has been run through the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder (reversed to get the indented dots) and then the Peach Parfait (orange) piece has been run through the Manhattan Flower embossing folder and cut out before being adhered to the base.

The letters were cut with the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies and I've added some Basic Rhinestones to finish.

Gardening boots

Today I want to share a card with you that I made for a 'Gardening' theme request.  Knowing the recipient lives in a part of the country where it rains a lot I couldn't resist featuring some wellies on it!  Although given the recent weather in the UK he could live anywhere and need them ;)!

I actually did attempt to make a welly shaped card base but this was a bit too difficult when limited on time so I went with cutting out a couple of wellies from some Always Artichoke card stock and coupled these with other colours from the Regals Collection, which I always seem to neglect.

The base is Whisper White with a piece of Bravo Burgundy which I have run through the Stripes embossing folder a couple of times to cover the whole piece of card.  The front welly has been layered up with dimensionals to create a 3D effect and then I have added a Butterfly Punch cut from More Mustard and embossed with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder and then tied with linen thread to create the antenna.

A couple of brads and a sentiment (More Mustard on Whisper White) to finish and I was quite chuffed given I don't normally create cards quite like this, and now I have my very own welly template :).

Get well gift

I have my big shot class this morning, and I couldn't wait until after the class to share one of the cards with you...

Do you recognise the flower?  Last week it was a bookmark, and this week whilst I was designing my class, I thought I would incorporate it onto the front of a card so it becomes a gift and a card.

I just love the Fun Flowers die as the flowers created are just great on their own, so I kept the card base simple using Chocolate Chip and Whisper White (embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder).

The sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set has been inked with Versamark ink, which is clear, and then embossed with Whisper White embossing powder melted with a heat gun.

There's also a secret ingredient used on this card to make it smell all flowery :).

Hopefully the weather will improve over the rest of the weekend as I have no plans on Sunday and hope to fit in a bit of walking... but that may be all alone, as no one wants to venture out in the miserable rain... COME ON summer, where are you!!!

Piñata for a birthday

I love the piñata that features on the Packed for Birthday stamp set that is in the current Summer mini catalogue. The stamp itself is just £8.95 which I think is a bargain given how many images there are on it that you can use...

So for this card I have cut out the piñata and the bunting and created this card which is a bit of a take on the card featured in the mini catalogue on page 26.

I've used Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder from the 2011-13 In Colours.  The bunting was inked up and stamped using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get it in the right place - this tool is a total life card saver and I cannot craft without it :)!

The sentiment is from the Apothecary Art stamp set, inked with Pool Party ink onto Whisper White and then mounted on a strip of Pool Party card edged with the Eyelet Border Punch.  I've used a length of Bakers Twine to hang the piñata and added a little bow... you get approx 23m of twine on a reel and it's just £2.50.  As you can see it has been featuring from time to time on a lot of my cards, tied around cards, panels, butterflies (as antenna) and used for tieing on buttons.

Owl punch for baby shower

This morning I'm over at the craft show in Bracknell with my crafty friend Amy.  Amy had a baby shower organised for her by her sister yesterday and here is the card I made for her...

It uses the Owl punch which is currently a fabourite of both Amy and myself as there are just soooo many things you can do with it.  I'm not entirely sure this came out as well as it could have done as I was struggling to find the right sort of punches and cut all the little bits up to create the baby grow and perhaps should have just stuck to 2 colours or included more So Saffron somewhere...

Anyway, you can hopefully see what I was trying to do with the brads, although the top one makes the collar look like a bowtie!

I've had a terrible week and was complete exhausted when making it, in fact almost didn't find any time to make it at all - I'm sure Amy will appreciate it.

Materials:

Card stock - Bashful Blue, Whisper White, So Saffron;

Embossing folders - Designer frames, Perfect Polka Dots;

Punches - Owl punch (body to create the baby grow), Scallop Circle punch (to create the leg holes and punch out the corners of the Whisper White and Bashful Blue embossed panels, Word Window (for sentiment);

Accessories - Designer Brads, Designer Button;

Ink - So Saffron;

Sentiment - Teeny Tiny Wishes.

I thought I'd create some little tags for the gifts that I got and had a play around with the Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiments to get the 'Just For Baby' wording that I wanted... a length of the Whisper White Organza ribbon and that was that.

Birthday medallions

I've not had much time for crafting lately... work has been crazy busy (does that ever change!?) and I continue to spend a large part of my week up in Cambridge and my craft stash isn't easy to cart back and forth all the time :(.

Therefore I have had to CASE of one of my own cards to share with you today, although I did  actually share it at a recent class as well, but it's a popular choice it seems.  The previous one was for an anniversary and in a different colour (see here) and the ladies at my class varied the numbering and also used a variety of sentiments and other shapes such as hearts to adapt the card for different occasions...



The card base is Wisteria Wonder, and I have stamped the Medallion image twice using Versamark ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder... this technique was really popular with those at my class who hadn't tried it before and it's a lot easier than it looks.

I have then tied a piece of the Whisper White Organza ribbon across the base and then cut a top note from mirror card (not Stampin' Up!) and then a Whisper White piece (which I have cut around the edge). The Whisper White piece has been embossed with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder using my Big Shot machine and then I have added the numbering from the Timeless Junior Alphabet dies and a sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, finally a couple of Basic Rhinestones... yes almost all the same as the previous card other than the colours and sentiment.

Wedding hearts

Wedding season is upon us it seems.  I don't actually own any of the wedding stamp sets yet, although I have got my eye on the Love and Laughter stamp set in the current Summer mini catalogue.

So, for these wedding cards I have used the Heart punch and some embossing folders.  Actually amazingly simple to make once you have punched out the pieces and embossed them.

The papers are from the Beau Chateau DSP paper pack, which I am sad to say is probably up there in my favourites as it has papers which are suitable for feminine and masculine cards, and sadly I have almost used up my pieces from a paper share ...

The framelits dies make a great background, after I have embossed them with the Perfect Polka dots die, and the lovely Organza ribbon is also moving up my list of favourites as it adds the final touches to give a more luxurious feel.

Chocolates

Happy Monday!

My next class is on the 7th July at 10.30am and we will be using the Big Shot machine to make 4 cards for a variety of occasions.

If you don't have the luxury of a Big Shot machine or have recently bought one then this class is for you as we will be having a play with a number of the dies and embossing folders available from Stampin' Up!

Today I have a card to share with you that uses the Top Note die, Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies and the Square Lattice embossing folder...



The base is A5 in size created by folding an A4 piece of Pool Party card stock.  I have then cut a Top Note die shape from Pink Pirouette embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder (ensure you emboss the card first as it shrinks, and then run through the die) and trimmed the edge before mounting onto mirror card (not Stampin' Up!).  I've also used a strip of the embossed Pink Pirouette card along the base of the card, mounted onto mirror card as well.

Before attaching the Top Note 'chocolate box, I have added some Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon and then some little chocolates which were created with the 1 inch circle punch and some 1 inch squares (cut by hand and with the corners rounded).  I have raised these up with dimensionals onto a Perfect Postage punch shape (not in current catalogue) cut from Basic Black card.  The 'icing' was cut by hand.

The numbering is from the Timeless type Junior Alphabet dies cut from mirror card and then I have added a sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and 'Mum' from For My Family, inked with Versamark and then embossed with silver embossing powder using a heat gun.

I was quite pleased with the finished card as googling a card with a chocolate theme resulted in no suggestions that were suitable, therefore I have come up with something entirely original :).

The birds are back...

I have to admit that the Bird Builder punch (or 2 step bird punch as it was previously known) comes a close second to my favourite, the Owl punch, these days.  But it still comes out quite a bit and today I have a card unlike my normal sort of design, which to be honest I am not too sure about.  Maybe it's the colour choice?

Anyway, here you go...

Featuring two of the little birdies, punched out from Chocolate Chip card stock and a matching Word Window with an embossed sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  The base is Peach Parfait and I have embossed the Medallion stamp in Versamark and clear embossing powder and then added some of my favourite ribbon (Organza in Whisper White). 

Jewellery making

A couple of months ago I attended a jewellery making workshop which was a gift from my friend/Mother In-law, Maureen.  I've always dabbled with jewellery making, so this was a great gift as I actually got to make everything from scratch and learn how to do it properly.  Here is some of the jewellery I made.

So, since then I have been meaning to post the photo's and I have also made a little card to attach the earrings to in order to give them as a gift, although I'm not sure I can bare to part with them...

I've cut two Top Note die shapes from Wisteria Wonder and Pool Party and then embossed the Pool Party one with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder, before trimming off the edge and mounting onto the Wisteria Wonder piece.

I've then cut a Wisteria Wonder butterfly from the Beautiful Wings embosslits to cover the holes which I made with the Crop-A-Dile and stuck this on with dimensional sticky pads.  To finish I have added some Basic Rhinestones and a sentiment from the Just Believe stamp set.

For my Mum

Today I have a card to share with you that I made for my Mum who will be having surgery this afternoon for cataracts.  Hopefully a straightforward procedure. but I will still be thinking of her and just wanted to let her know...

I've stamped the Medallion stamp directly onto the Basic Black card base with Versamark ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder melted with a heat gun, which creates a lovely shimmery background. 

Onto this I have adhered the lettering cut out of Whisper White from the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies and then added a couple of Real Red flowers created with the largest and smallest flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch (layered up and then added a Basis Rhinestone in the centre).  Then to finish I have used the sentiment from the Just Believe stamp set, inked in Versamark and embossed with White embossing powder.

Baby shower invite

I received this cute little invite from my crafty friend Amy, so just had to share it with you.

This babygrow design was created by folding a Whisper White cardbase at the top and then punching using 1-3/8 circles to create the neck and leg-holes.  After cutting the arms the card has been run through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder using the Big Shot machine. 

For the 'lace' Amy has punched out Bashful Blue scallop circles and then punched the centre usingin a 1-3/8 circle punch.  The teddy bear is from the Every Little Bit stampset inked with Bashful Blue onto Whisper White and then punched out using a 1-1/4 circle punch before being mounted onto a 1-3/8 circle of Bashful Blue card.

Now I just have to create a baby shower card and think of a present idea...

Anniversary medallion

Well, despite having to work somewhat this weekend, I am still planning to get my crafting mojo back up and running so I can feel a little more human again!  So the daily posts will return :).

Today I have a card I made for a 40th Wedding Anniversary which uses the Medallion stamp set in the main catalogue, which I haven't had a play with before... and now I have so many ideas I want to try it out with. 

The card base is Riding Hood Red, and I have stamped the Medallion image twice using Versamark ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder... I'm stretching myself a bit for a change as I don't usually use heat embossing as it can get messy, but it does create a luxurious feel to a card.

I have then tied a piece of the Whisper White Organza ribbon across the base and then cut a top note from mirror card (not Stampin' Up!) and then a Whisper White piece (which I have cut around the edge).  The Whisper White piece has been embossed with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder using my Big Shot machine and then I have added the numbering from the Timeless Junior Alphabet dies and a sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, finally a couple of Basic Rhinestones...

A bit of drama

I'm away in Gothenburg over the bank holiday weekend so have scheduled a few projects for you in case you get time to craft amidst all the Diamond Jubilee events or whatever you are doing...

This card was created following a special request for a drama lover, so I'm hoping it is well received.  Apologies for the lack of Stampin' Up! products but at least you can see how it's possible to work with other bits and pieces from your craft stash sometimes.



The base is Basic Black folded into a square and then I have adhered a square of Real Red embossed with the 'Stripes' embossing folder.  My current favourites, the labels collection framelits had to be used :).  I've cut 3 frames, alternating between Real Red and Basic Black and then embossed the central piece with the Square Lattice embossing folder.

The embellishment was created from shrink plastic and then raised up with dimensionals.  

Home made cupcake

With the warm weather we have been having perhaps I should have made an ice cream instead!

This is a nice quick and easy card which I cut out the base using a template, from Whisper White card stock and then added the designer series paper with 'stripes' to the base and an embossed (with the Square Lattice embossing folder) piece of Pink Pirouette for the icing...



The cherry is from the Button Buddies stamp set (cherry image) and I've added a few seed beads (non Stampin' Up! to look like sprinkles and tied a quick knot in a piece of Very Vanilla seam binding ribbon.
